Medical Claims Specialist
In-House Position
Foothills Billing Solutions is a growing, nationally focused medical billing company partnering with mental health providers across the United States. We are seeking a professional, detail-oriented Medical Claims Specialist who excels in phone communication, written correspondence, and insurance claim follow-up to join our in-house team.
This is a fully on-site position at our Foothills Billing Solutions office. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available. The ideal candidate values in-person collaboration, accountability, and consistent follow-through.
Position Overview
This role is ideal for someone who is confident and professional on the phone, communicates clearly in writing, and is skilled at researching and resolving outstanding insurance claims. You will serve as a key point of contact for patients and providers calling with billing questions, while also supporting the team through detailed claim investigation and follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer inbound phone calls from patients and providers regarding billing questions, claim status, and account concerns with professionalism and clarity.
- Communicate accurate and helpful information while maintaining a courteous and solution-focused approach.
- Respond to emails promptly using proper grammar, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Research and follow up on outstanding insurance claims, including denied, underpaid, or delayed claims.
- Communicate with insurance carriers to obtain claim status, resolve issues, and initiate appeals when appropriate.
- Maintain clear, thorough documentation of all communications and claim activity.
- Collaborate with internal team members to ensure timely and accurate resolution of billing issues.
- Track and prioritize work to ensure aging claims are addressed efficiently.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in medical billing, insurance follow-up, or revenue cycle management (not entry-level).
- Strong verbal communication skills with confidence handling high volumes of phone calls.
- Excellent written communication skills, including proper grammar and professional email etiquette.
- Ability to research and resolve insurance claim issues independently.
- Working knowledge of insurance processes, including claim status, denials, and appeals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to remain professional and patient-focused in a fast-paced environment.
